Celebrate Our Caregivers During National Health Center Week!
This August 12-18th, we are celebrating National Health Center Week! This is a special week of events celebrating those amazing care providers that keep our communities healthy every day. More than 27 million patients rely on health centers across the United States, and seniors can be some of their most valuable patients. As aging Americans, we can rely heavily on care providers in our homes, hospitals, and community centers. These health care heroes enable us to live full and healthy lives, and this week, there are numerous opportunities to show them our gratitude! Each day of National Health Center Week has a specific “focus,” starting with a Legislative Appreciation Day. You can engage with local politicians and community leaders by presenting them with a certificate recognizing their important contributions to your local health centers. Writing to your local paper is another great way to show your appreciation for the folks that protect health centers on both sides of the political aisle. You can learn about the other focus days here and find out even more ways to stay engaged throughout the week.Another one of those great ways to engage is on the last day of National Health Center Week, which is Children’s Health Day. This is a perfect opportunity to spend time with grandchildren, while also promoting health care initiatives for children nationwide. The My Healthy Team printable coloring page is a great resource that you can use to teach your grandchildren about who is on their health team, which of course, includes you. Keeping the whole family healthy can be made easy and fun with these creative resources, so be sure to check them out!Improving patients’ health is an admirable calling, and caregivers dedicate themselves to those efforts every day.
