Seniors Speak Out Statement on the 2026 State of the Union
February 25, 2026—Seniors Speak Out, a national healthcare policy advocacy group, issued the following statement on the 2026 State of the Union address.
“Seniors Speak Out is deeply concerned by President Trump’s continued push to codify his Most Favored Nation (MFN) drug pricing policies. One in four Medicare beneficiaries is expected to be impacted by MFN’s reshaping of the Part B and D programs—and the consequences extend beyond immediate coverage changes. By instituting price controls within Medicare, MFN will also undermine future innovation, access to cutting-edge treatments, and jeopardize seniors' quality of care.
“One of the most concerning components of the MFN models is their reliance on single-payer healthcare systems that use metrics like the Quality-Adjusted Life Year (QALY) to determine coverage and treatment eligibility. Seniors would be especially discriminated against by these value assessments as they effectively ration care based on age and diminish the value of their lives.
“We oppose price controls in any form and any policy that compromises seniors’ ability to obtain care. As the future of healthcare policy takes shape, we urge the administration to put seniors’ needs first.”
